The Dallas Stars have acquired right wing Lauri Tukonen from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for left wing Richard Clune.

Clune was the Stars' third-round selection in the 2005 Entry Draft. The 21-year-old split the 2007-08 season between the Iowa Stars of the AHL and the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL. In 38 games with Iowa last season, the Toronto native posted three goals and five assists for eight points with 137 penalty minutes.
KingsCast Take: It's pretty apparent that Tukonen wasn't going to pan out for the organization but what the fuck is this? All they could get was another minor leaguer who spent time in the AHL/ECHL!?

KingsCast Take: Peter Harrold is a very serviceable 5/6 defenseman that needed to be re-signed. Still no word on O'Sullivan or Stoll

Rich Hammond is reporting that, while the Kings did make an offer on Danny Markov, that he refused to take a physical prior to signing. And this is why KingsCast rarely reports on rumors. Now the search for a left shot defenseman continues.
KingsCast Take: For every defenseman that Dean Lombardi takes a shot on that fails brings the team one step closer to Modry.

KingsCast rarely reports on rumors but reports are coming out of Russia that the Los Angeles Kings have made a contract offer to defenseman Daniel Markov of the Moscow "Dynamo". At 6'1", 290 lbs, this tough left shot defenseman fits the mold of what Dean Lombardi is looking for. He also played for the Philadelphia Flyers while Terry Murray was part of the organization. Markov was a hot commodity on the free agent market last season but, evidently, wanted more money than clubs wanted to pony up for him. The issue here will be if he's willing to leave his sweet, tax-free contract in Russia.
KingsCast Take: Markov would certainly improve our defense next season. It certainly doesn't take us to the next level but it's a start. At some point, someone has to sign in LA.

According to multiple reports, the Los Angeles are in final negotiations with Terry Murray. Currently an assistant coach with the Philadelphia Flyers, Murray has previously been a head coach for the Florida Panthers, Washington Capitals and the Philadelphia Flyers. In ten seasons as an NHL head coach, Murray has been to the playoffs nine times (taking the Flyers to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1996-1997. Prior to coaching, Terry Murray was a defenseman taken in the 1970 NHL Entry Draft by the California Golden Seals. Terry Murray is the brother of Ottawa General Manager Bryan Murray. Murray and Kings GM Dean Lombardi were both with the Flyers organization at the same time and have a strong connection.
